The Rest of Our Professional Staff

Melanie Peterson is an instructor with Canine Counselors, joining our team with over 10 years class instructing experience. Starting out with German Shepherds, she now has two Rat Terriers, Riley and Scarlett. She has a long background in pet therapy work, serving with Hearts of Thunder and Partners with Paws. Her Rat Terrier, Riley, is a registered Delta Society Pet Partner. Melanie has also served as an instructor for Delta Society Pet Partner classes and she is an AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluator. She is a provisional member of NADOI and actively promotes dog obedience, pet therapy, and responsible dog ownership co-sponsoring the annual Red Oak "Dog Day Afternoon" event and writing dog related articles for the Ellis County Press and the Red Oak Record.




Sandra Roath started training her dogs with Canine Counselors five years ago, and is now working as a class assistant. She began training with her Australian Shepherd mix Daisy, who has earned the Canine Good Citizenship Certificate. Sandra has also put her Chihuahua mix, Gretel, through training. She is experienced with both toy and large dogs and loves helping our students with their dogs. Sandra also owns German Shepherd mixes, Harley and Ivanhoe.
